My mom sent me a facebook note letting me know that the local paper listed the results of Saturday’s DareDevil Dash, an extreme 5K with 20 obstacles like mud pits and climbing walls and stacks of round hay bales. I won my age group!

Ah, don’t get so excited. I was the only woman in my age group crazy enough to run the thing. I ran pretty carefully, taking my time on the obstacles, but I did finish feeling pretty tough. I sliced my finger open getting over the first set of hay bales. It hurt but I didn’t really notice the blood until the end when the mud coating that hand was pooling red. A quick rinse with the garden hose and a paper towel were all the first aid I needed until I could get at the bandaids in the car, but it was flattering when a race official tried to point me to an ambulance posted near the finish.

I will be watching the mail to see if they send me anything good. Fingers crossed!
